Dawn begins early. This was taken at 3:45 AM. There was noticeable faint light on the horizon at 3:00 AM. However it wasn't until 45 minutes later that I was sure that it wasn't sky-glow from a nearby town.

New Foal Down the Road
A couple of weeks ago, some neighbors of ours mentioned that there was a new baby horse in a nearby pasture. It's not far from the house, but we don't go that way often, because we have to go the other direction to go into town.
We went there and there was a cute little foal sticking close to mom. It was pretty difficult to get his picture, because he kept hiding behind the mare - probably an instinctive thing to protect against predators. I took these with my cell camera, and the horses look short to me. No idea how to fix this...

Beer and Deer
We have a few families of deer (fawns and does) that we have been feeding through the winter months. They come around for breakfast and dinner, when we pour out a pitcher of corn. They are not quite tame. You cannot get very close to them, but they are also not too concerned when they see a human nearby.
The brew is a Blue Moon Seasonal called Valencia Grove Amber. Quite a tasty orange-wheat flavor.

Wildlife
We are blessed to finally live in a beautiful place that is rich in wild critters. Unfortunately we are in outage at the power plant right now, and I am working nights. Otherwise I might have been there for these sightings. Corie and Grace saw a falcon in the back yard. It pretty much had to be a falcon, based on its behavior, as it was chasing other birds around.
I was more unhappy that I also missed the first moose sighting, apparently an adolescent bull, about a mile from the house.
These are photos I found on the web. Unfortunately Corie didn't have a camera with her when she spotted these guys. Wish I'd been there, but that's how it goes some days!
