Have you ever heard of Arc Gouging? I hadn't - until last week when we were offline for some repair work. It's also known as Air Carbon Arc Cutting. The technique involves a consumable carbon electrode, 500 Amps of DC current, and an air blast gun to blow away melted metal. It was going through two inches of steel like it was butter. Much deeper cut than you get with a plasma cutter.
In the interrim, I've not had a day away from work for 15 days straight now. Not sure this day shift thing is working out...
