Quick post. I was cleaning off the work bench of clutter that had accumulated over the course of several unpleasant jobs that I was just happy to have finished. When I'm filthy and disgusted, it's sometimes difficult to follow through with clean-up and putting away tools afterwards.
In any event, I'd taken possession of an ancient stamped Square Tool that once belonged to my father-in-law. I already have one of these, but kinda wanted this one as a keepsake. It had enough surface corrosion that the markings weren't legible, although it was still useful as a square. I put a hole in it where the hole is on my other square, so that it will hang from a hook correctly.
I used the palm sander on it for a bit, and the surface corrosion was quite a bit deeper than I had anticipated - but it cleaned up pretty well. I might polish it up later on and see if I can work some black paint into the measurement scales. That would probably look really nice.
