Behold Germany!

"Swiftly the remembrance of all things is buried in the gulf of eternity." - Marcus Aurelius

I don't normally do posts about stuff that goes on in other countries.  We have more than enough idiocy right here to comment on.  However, when I see something this ridiculous happening in real-time, it's difficult for me to pass on the chance to point it out.

Here's what's going on in Germany.  In their desire to be more "green", they are closing down three of their six nuclear power plants early, at the end of this year.  They are doing this in spite of a harsh European winter that has been causing an energy shortage in the region.  Germany has in the past had the luxury of importing electricity generated by nuclear power in France.  That is no longer the case, as France has shuttered several aging nuclear plants.

Here's where it gets weird:  Germany has been emitting MORE carbon dioxide due to increased reliance on coal-fired power plants since they decided to move to renewables and shut down "dirty" nuclear plants.

I'm no longer interested in what these 'green' people claim they are trying to achieve - I'm only watching the results.  If you are creating more greenhouse gas than when you took charge, you aren't all that green!
