Farewell, little dog

"Remind thyself that he whom thou lovest is mortal that what thou lovest is not thine own; it is given the for the present, not irrevocably nor forever, but even as a fig or a bunch of grapes at the appointed season of the year." - Epictetus

Sometimes it feels like we are staggering from one sad event to another...

Our dachshund Bridget had to be put down this past weekend.  She had gone lame and was in a great deal of pain.  She was nearly 11 years old - getting up there, but not yet elderly.   She was a sweet girl, never ill-tempered, and in her youth, full of energy and spark.

She was easy to house break, and a quiet dog, unless someone drove up to the house - at which point she would let everyone know.  She was best friends with Sparkles, whom she grew up with.

She enjoyed the sound of her teeth puncturing cardboard, trying to gnaw on the micro-drone, and running circles around the cat, until the cat finally tackled her.

Bridget and Sparkles are now resting close together between a couple of nice shady fir trees.
