A hip lady

"Power concedes nothing without demand.  It never did and it never will.  Find out just what any people will quietly submit to, and you have found the exact measure of injustice and wrong that will be imposed on them, and these will continue until these are either resisted with words or blows, or with both.  The limits of tyrants are are prescribed by the endurance of those they oppress." - Frederick Douglass

Late in July, we flew my mother up from Boise, Idaho to Northern Idaho, to celebrate her 96th birthday.  She's always been independent and still lives on her own in an upstairs condominium, with a bit of help from her neighbors getting groceries upstairs.  She still drives!

So we celebrated her B-day at the cool floating restaurant in CDA, and the day after that she broke her hip on the back deck of the house :(  Had to call the ambulance and have her transported to Kootenai Health.

Below:  Not the best day ever...

They waited two days for her blood thinner medications to dissipate, then took her into surgery for hip replacement.  Being independent and living upstairs made a difference - she came out of it fine, with a little bit of delay getting her blood pressure up after coming off anesthesia.

She's in a rehabilitation hospital for a while, and then she will be coming to stay with us for a bit more out-patient rehabilitation.   It's been a fun couple of weeks (not really).  One day, shortly after she fell, I had to go into work for a compressor offline water wash.  So add that to the plate of stressful events.

On the bright side, there's some new music I've been enjoying recently:  Check it out on Spotify or YouTube!
