Mountain Bike Computer

"Circumstances do not rise to meet our expectations.  Events happen as they do.  People behave as they are.  Embrace what you actually get." - Epictetus.

So I finally set up the computer on the mountain bike.  Installation was pretty easy, because I've done that a few times - and because this one is wireless, it was even easier than the others I've installed.

However... being wireless, each transmitter needs to be paired to the computer.  So once the installation is done, you need to go through the process of connecting the cadence (pedal speed), tire speed (MPH), and heart monitor.  If you don't get everything just right, full reset and start over.  It doesn't help that the instruction manual is poorly translated from Chinese.  It kinda points you in the right direction, then it's up to you to figure out how to get exactly where you want to be.  Anyway, it's set up now.

I'm not a fan of stuff that needs recharging frequently, but that's where we are these days.  The main unit pops off the bike and plugs into a micro-USB charge adapter. The wireless transmitter just has a coin battery.

Below : Everything you need - Time, speed, pedal RPM, distance, temperature, and elapsed time.  Not showing is heart rate.  That must be on a different screen - I paired the heart monitor to the unit, but don't see that measurement anywhere.

The transmitter is pretty cool because it's all-in-one.  The body contains a sensor for pedal speed, and there is a little arm for the wheel speed.  Very clever!
