The vacuum tubes finally arrived. According to the seller, all of the vacuum tubes tested good. I've no reason to doubt that. Tubes fail less frequently than the power cord or capacitors. If anything, a failed capacitor usually takes out a tube.
As you can see, I replaced the tube with the failed heater, so now all the tubes glow. If you recall, with this type of radio, if any tube heating element fails, the entire string of tubes won't light, just like old-time Christmas light strands. After locating and replacing the bad one, they all glow!
You can hear a little bit of static and tuning noises as you roll the tuner around, so long as the antenna is connected. After I replace the tuner dial cord, I will align the radio and see how well it works!
