 We successfully rolled out of outage yet again, with an on-time start-up.  A lot of little juggling balls to deal with, as usual.  Chemistry outside the box, a few valves out of alignment, this and that instrument not working quite right, etc.  Back into AGC (Automatic Generation Control), where someone else controls the output of the plant, as we continuously deal with the upsets they cause :)

Oddly enough, our generator is now controlled from California - don't ask me why.  As it was said on "Blazing Saddles", Mongo only pawn in game of life.  Cal-ISO is calling the shots for the electrical system well outside of their legal jurisdiction.  I'm fairly certain that they are paying large fees to the local electrical Utility to get control, or the utility would not be agreeing to spend the money to install the secure control network.

Back in the real world, I've rested up for a couple of days and learned that one of my all-time favorite bands will be in town.  I've mentioned Volbeat before.  They are a metal/rock band from Denmark.  Their lead guitarist and album producer, Rob Caggiano, is a phenomenal player, and was previously with the thrash/metal band Anthrax.  I was a bit surprised to find Volbeat on the Indian Casino circuit, but I'm exceedingly happy to have them come here!!!

So I was looking at the tickets for Volbeat, and the kid squeals ""Falling in Reverse" is playing the following night!!!"  So I bought tickets for two shows at the Northern Quest Casino, on back-to-back nights.  I know nothing of this band, so I'll just find some videos and post them below.

Falling in Reverse - "Voices in my head"  Meh, sounds like most of the modern "autotune" commercial rock/rap - not my thing at all.  We shall see how the live show is.

On the way to work the old shuffle rolled up a couple of tunes that I've not heard in forever.  Most enjoyable!

Deep Purple - Lazy.  Man, I love Jon Lord on that modified growling Hammond organ!  Back in the day, when people had an attention span, musicians could get away with a 2:00 intro before getting to the meat of the song.  And what a great blues/rock song!

This was followed by a relatively unknown band named Uncle Festive.  They made a few albums, but only had one semi-hit that I'm aware of.  Cool music though.  The song melody is a bit repetitive, but the keyboardist, drummer, and guitarist are really good, and I like the upbeat nature of the song.
