"If the populace knew with what idiocy they were ruled, they would revolt." - Charlemagne
As mentioned previously, the 20 yr old kitchen refrigerator gave its last gasp of cold right around Thanksgiving - that's late November for those readers who don't live in the US. After a few follies trying to find a replacement, we resigned ourselves to waiting for the back-order to be filled.
Today it finally arrived - right after we had a nasty cold snap and 6 inches of fluffy snow covered the driveway.
I also had worked the night before, and lost quite a bit of sleep over the process. The driveway needed to be cleared so that the delivery van could get to our house. Then I had to shovel the walkway and throw down ice-melt so that they delivery guys wouldn't slip while man-handling the new refrigerator in and the old one out.
They offered to stay and peel off the protective film, but I told them to get on with their deliveries - we aren't those kind of people who would complain about something minor like that. As long as it works :)
So I spent another half hour with the wife, removing film, tape and styrofoam packing from inside and outside the new unit. After that I got a couple of hours of restless sleep. I've had a rather nasty cold - plugged sinus, sore throat, relentless coughing. Haven't been sick in several years, and haven't been this sick in a decade or so. I can't even imagine how nasty this would be without routinely popping Vitamin D!
In any event, here it is, in all its glory - complete with a curious Husky. Freshly peeled (except for one label on a door pull handle), but without all the shelving installed yet.
I'll just be happy to have ice again!
