"A man's greatness lies not in wealth and station, as the vulgar believe. Nor does it lie in his intellectual capacity, which is often associated with the worst moral character - the most abject servility to those in high places and arrogance to the poor and lowly. But a man's true greatness lies in the consciousness of an honest purpose in life, founded upon a just estimate of himself and everything else. On frequent self-examination, and a steady obedience to the rule which he knows to be right - without troubling himself, as the emperor says he should not, about what others may say , or whether they do or don't do that which he thinks and says and does." - Marcus Aurelius
Long stoic quote. Excellent points made though.
This song started before I got to the street. It was kind of a hit in the late 80's, and it's nearly forgotten now, I suppose. I like it because it has a really nice melody, but then it has some really sad lyrics - at the end maybe a little hopeful. Los Lobos - "One Time One Night"
My dude James Solberg threw some blues my way - "LA Blues"
Then there was this weird Nu-Wave hit from the early 80s that I hadn't heard in forever: Wall of Voodoo - "Mexican Radio". Not sure if this song could be made these days. Just goes to show that you don't need a ton of musical talent to write a clever and catchy song!
At the other end of the talent spectrum: Little Walter came up. "Can't Hold Out Much Longer". Awesome blues man!
