The previous rant about why I switched to Starlink is here.
I have temporarily set up the Starlink dish on the tripod in the back yard. I'll have to figure out a permanent home for the dish before the grass needs to be mowed, because the signal cable is strung across the lawn at the moment.
As soon as I had Starlink working, I told Ziply Fiber (previously Frontier Communications) to fuck off with their not-so-broadband internet service. Below are some comparisons between Ziply Fiber and Starlink, just in case you were on the fence about which one to send your hard-earned money to.
Cell phone speed test over the WiFi network - First the phone company, then the satellite company. A 53x improvement.
Below: Comparison of Steam Game download speeds and estimated download times. Jeez - how awful can an internet provider actually be at providing high speed internet??? Is it even possible to be slower?
Again, all of this is over a WiFi network. I don't yet have Starlink hard-wired into the house LAN.
One thing for sure, we are not missing Ziply "Fiber" in the least.
