Tunes

"Attach yourself to what is spiritually superior, regardless of what other people think or do.  Hold to your true aspirations no matter what is going on around you." - Epictetus

I had a few good songs pop up on the way in to work today.  Jerry Cantrell, the guitarist for Alice in Chains came up, with "My Song", as well as an old Genesis song "The Lady Lies" a pretty good song with a cool story, from the album 'And Then There Were Three'.

A cool song that I hadn't heard in quite a while rolled up though.  It's an old somewhat unknown 80's new wave song called "The Fanatic" by a band named Felony.  The song apparently was featured in the movie "Valley Girl", a movie I've not seen.

Then another cool 80's tune rolled up, by Modern English.  They are most famous for "I Melt With You".  This song is less famous, but really cool.  It's called "Life in the Glad House".  The percussion in this song is crazy.  If you have a good place to listen to this with the volume and bass cranked up, you should do it!

I guess the random feature decided it was going to be an 80's day, because Pat Benatar came up too.

Everyone knows about Pat Benatar because of her huge hit songs "Hit Me With Your Best Shot", "Love is a Battlefield", "Heartbreaker", "Invincible" and "Hell is for Children".

Pat Benatar released a really cool album in 1991 called "True Love" that never got much airplay.  Recorded with the band "Roomful of Blues", the album features jump blues - blues with horns and a swing tempo.  Most of the songs on the album are cover tunes, but her soulful voice really goes well with blues.  If you haven't heard these before, check em out!
